We speak for everyone at Amtrak when we say: Black Lives Matter. The inequitable treatment of African Americans and people of color at the hands of the police, criminal justice system and broader institutions must stop. We stand with the African American community to denounce inequality as we fight against systemic racial injustice. To lead this change, we are investing resources and developing strategies to increase fairness, equity, and equality at Amtrak. As part of these efforts, we are creating and funding a Diversity and Inclusion Council to create strategic accountability for results, provide oversight and promote company-wide communication on progress. The work doesn’t stop there, we know we don’t have all the answers, but we look forward to further discussion and engagement to fully build and achieve a diverse and inclusive Amtrak.
