Amtrak Joins Gov. Lamont, Connecticut DOT for Windsor Locks Train Station Ribbon Cutting

Windsor Locks, CT – Amtrak Vice President of Infrastructure and Project Delivery Warren LeBeau joined Gov. Ned Lamont, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, Connecticut Transportation Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto, and state and local leadership to announce the opening of a newly constructed Windsor Locks Train Station. The station will serve Amtrak’s Hartford Line, Northeast Regional, Valley Flyer and Vermonter routes, as well as CTrail trains starting Oct. 18.

“Congratulations to the Town of Windsor Locks, our partners at CTDOT, and everyone who will benefit from this station for years to come,” Amtrak Vice President Infrastructure Delivery Warren LeBeau said. “Together, we’ve created a new, modern, and accessible station for customers, built improved infrastructure that strengthens the railroad, and providing better connections for residents, commuters, visitors all while supporting future growth in Windsor Locks and throughout the region.”

In fiscal year 2025, Windsor Locks Train Station served 35,576 riders. The new station features a relocated passenger rail and bus service from the south of the town’s downtown area to a central location near Main Street and track and signal enhancements to improve operational flexibility, reliability and capacity along the Northeast Corridor.

Thanks to support from our partners at the Federal Railroad Administration, Amtrak is also embarking on a new era of rail, including additional investments in Connecticut.

For example, Amtrak is replacing the 119-year-old Connecticut River Bridge, one of the most significant rail infrastructure projects in the Northeast. And in Norwalk, CT, Amtrak has contributed a portion of the funding for Connecticut DOT’s replacement of Walk Bridge.
