Gardner this week congratulated Canadian Pacific (CP) for earning an industry-leading “A” grade for the sixth consecutive year on the annual Amtrak Host Railroad Report Card, which ranks freight railroads for keeping Amtrak trains on-time. New Amtrak locomotives – made in the U.S. and cleaner, faster, and more fuel efficient than predecessors – began service today pulling the famous Amtrak Empire Builder train westbound from Chicago to Seattle. Locomotives 301 and 302 are among the first of 75 locomotives being delivered through 2024.
The new season of the “ski train” will be offered each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from the weekend of January 14-16 through the weekend of April 1-3—for a total of 36 roundtrips. CHICAGO – Amtrak has initiated a multi-million-dollar and multi-year project to improve the customer experience aboard its long distance trains serving overnight routes across the country. Elements of this work were displayed this week at Chicago Union Station.
The Thruway Bus service substitution will be in effect through Monday, May 25. Hiawatha train service is expected to resume on Tuesday, May 26.
