WASHINGTON – Amtrak has partnered with Delivering Good to donate 119,596 individual items, including bedding, towels and linens to local organizations that help those in need. Delivering Good strives to create a more equitable world where people facing economic, medical, social and environmental challenges have useful items needed to overcome adversity and achieve their full potential. With donations stemming from Seattle, Oakland, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Miami, the Amtrak-Delivering Good partnership has had a national impact.
WASHINGTON – Amtrak and the Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) Rail Corridor Agency, which manages the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner service, introduced a pet program for the Southern California train route. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner passengers can now bring their dogs and cats weighing up to 20 pounds onboard Pacific Surfliner trains for only $26 or 800 Amtrak Guest Reward points beginning May 20.
WASHINGTON – Creating an official path to learn on the job and grow their skills, Amtrak announced its Apprenticeship Pilot Program, providing opportunities for professional development. Representing a mix of new hires and existing employees with diverse backgrounds, students will begin in the classroom and move to hands-on work in a specific trade. With funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, Amtrak can effectively invest in people, helping them forge professional careers.
WASHINGTON – Bolstered by a demand for both business and leisure travel, Amtrak unveiled its summer schedule featuring the most Acela frequencies since the onset of the pandemic and Northeast Regional departures nearing 80% of pre-pandemic service levels. The new summer schedule also includes the restoration of four long distance trains to daily service.
WASHINGTON – During one of the most exciting phases for passenger rail in this nation’s history, Amtrak is beginning a new era that offers even more sustainable transportation options for travelers. To bring this transformation to life and as part of Amtrak’s vision for the future, Amtrak pledges to reduce 40% of greenhouse gas emissions, fully transitioning all electricity to carbon-free sources by 2030. As a part of this vision, the acquisition of new ALC-42s will reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions compared to the legacy fleet they are replacing.
WASHINGTON – Now through March 29, Amtrak’s USA Rail Pass is available for just $399, a savings of $100 off the regular $499 price. Customers taking advantage of this special offer will pay less than $40 per ride for ten travel segments over 30 days. Offering an affordable way to take a multi-segment train journey on an adventure across America, the USA Rail Pass allows customers to see the country and explore sights at many of Amtrak’s 500 destinations.

SEATTLE – After intensive system testing, crew qualifications, and safety certification in partnership with Sound Transit and the Washington State Department of Transportation, Amtrak Cascades service will resume on the Point Defiance Bypass on November 18. The inland bypass parallels I-5 between the Tacoma Dome Station, Lakewood, JBLM, DuPont and Nisqually.
