SEATTLE – After intensive system testing, crew qualifications, and safety certification in partnership with Sound Transit and the Washington State Department of Transportation, Amtrak Cascades service will resume on the Point Defiance Bypass on November 18. The inland bypass parallels I-5 between the Tacoma Dome Station, Lakewood, JBLM, DuPont and Nisqually.

(September 30, Stockton, CA) – Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park is holding a celebratory “re-dedication” event on Saturday, October 9 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and the Amtrak San Joaquins has scheduled special trains at a 50 percent discount rate to bring visitors to the park for the historically significant event.
WASHINGTON – Nearly 500 Police and Sheriff’s departments across 43 states and the District of Columbia will join the Amtrak Police Department and Operation Lifesaver Inc (OLI) to conduct “Operation Clear Track,” the single largest railroad safety law enforcement detail in the U.S. This is the fifth annual event aimed at enforcing state grade crossing and trespassing laws while raising awareness on the importance of making safe choices near railroad tracks and crossings.

WASHINGTON – Amtrak announces full restoration of Coast Starlight service operating daily between Los Angeles and Seattle following several weeks of service interruption resulting from extensive wildfire damage in Northern California. With infrastructure repairs now completed, customers can leverage Amtrak’s train service to travel up and down the California coast, passing through Santa Barbara, the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, and Portland beginning August 23. The service restoration has completed two weeks ahead of schedule, and makes full Coast Starlight service available for the upcoming Labor Day holiday period. The new schedule has been updated on all Amtrak reservation systems, including Amtrak.com and the Amtrak app.
ORANGE, Calif. – The Amtrak® Pacific Surfliner® will offer expanded service for trains that travel between San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties. Service modifications include the partial restoration of the schedule along busier portions of the corridor as well as measures to manage capacity.
WASHINGTON – With the relaunch of its USA Rail Pass, Amtrak is introducing a new and affordable way to take a multi-segment train journey across America. This new offering allows customers to take up to ten rides to see the country and explore sights at many of Amtrak’s 500 destinations. Now through June 22, the USA Rail Pass is available for $299, a savings of $200 off the regular $499 price. Customers taking advantage of this special introductory offer will pay less than $30 per ride for ten travel segments over 30 days.
ORANGE, Calif.– A new Amtrak Thruway bus route is now offering daily service between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, with intermediate stops in San Bernardino, Victorville, and Barstow. While bus-only trips for this service can be purchased without a train segment, these buses also offer guaranteed connections to Pacific Surfliner Trains 579, 580, 763 768, 777, and 796.
