Hop aboard to more than 500 destinations
WASHINGTON – Amtrak is expecting an increase in customers this summer as train travel offers unparalleled convenience, ease and comfort. America’s Railroad® also provides a compelling alternative to congested highways and crowded airports for vacationers traveling to a beach adventure, a national park or to explore one of the country’s large cities.
Customers can take advantage of various discounts like Share Fares, when traveling as a group and other affordable fares for traveling solo or with family and friends for an extended weekend or longer vacation. Book early for the best fares as reservations indicate an increasing demand for travel in July and August.
Memorial Day weekend kicks off summer travel season. During the four-day holiday travel period, Amtrak typically serves more than 300,000 customers.
“We believe the journey is the most important part of the adventure,” Amtrak President and CEO Richard Anderson said. “Instead of sitting in traffic to reach these destinations, travel in comfort and watch the scenery roll by.”
Amtrak gives customers access to popular trains, including the Acela, Northeast Regional, Adirondack, California Zephyr, Southwest Chief, Empire Builder, Coast Starlight, Downeaster, Lake Shore Limited, Sunset Limited, Texas Eagle, Auto Train, Crescent, Silver Star, Palmetto, and more.
Customers will enjoy large spacious seats with plenty of legroom, spacious overhead compartments to store luggage and the ability to move about the train to visit the Café and Lounge cars. Customers have the freedom to use phones and electronic devices at all times (no “airplane mode”), and the ability to travel with small pets on many trains.
Customers can visit Amtrak.com to plan their trip, check out Amtrak’s generous baggage policy, as well as information on other deals and discounts.
