WASHINGTON – Amtrak continues improvements to revitalize and enhance the customer experience at Washington Union Station, one of the nation’s most historic and busiest multimodal hubs. Amtrak is managing this work in coordination with the Federal Railroad Administration, the U.S. Department of Transportation, and the Union Station Redevelopment Corporation.

A ticketed passenger waiting area is open for Amtrak customers. Starbucks, Bullfrog Bagels and Mustard Seed Massage are now open.

Opened in 1907, the station is a critical nexus for intercity passenger rail, serving both the Northeast Corridor between Washington, D.C., and Boston, as well as Virginia and North Carolina and the greater National Network. The Acela, Northeast Regional and Amtrak fleet of overnight trains serve the station, in addition to Amtrak Virginia and North Carolina services. Washington Metro transit, MARC and Virginia Railway Express commuter lines, local and intercity buses also provide service.
