Limited-time sale offers the perfect opportunity for a scenic adventure

WASHINGTON – Getting away is always a good idea and bringing a companion can make the experience even better. For a limited time, Amtrak is offering customers the opportunity to bring a friend or loved one on the journey for free.

This special offer is available for sale between Jan. 7 – 12, 2020 on select routes in both Coach and sleeping accommodations. The offer is valid for travel Feb. 1, 2020 through June 12, 2020 with blackout dates on April 10, April 13 and May 22 through May 25.

Customers and a companion can travel aboard some of Amtrak’s most popular routes from coast to coast, including the California ZephyrCapitol LimitedCardinalCity of New OrleansCoast StarlightCrescentEmpire BuilderLake Shore LimitedPalmetto, Silver Meteor, Silver StarSouthwest ChiefSunset Limited and Texas Eagle.

In Coach, customers enjoy large spacious seats with ample leg room and no middle seat. Or consider an upgrade to the comfort of a private Roomette or Bedroom, which includes complimentary meals on most routes, comfortable seating by day and relaxing beds by night. All Amtrak customers enjoy the freedom to use their cell phones and electronic devices without the need for airplane mode as well as one of the most generous baggage policies in the travel industry.

From route to route, customers can choose a number of onboard dining experiences—including café service, traditional dining service and flexible dining service — each offering a variety of meals, snacks and beverages. And starting May 1, 2020, flexible dining service will be introduced aboard the Silver Star as an exclusive amenity for sleeping car customers.

This sale is valid for one free companion rail fare traveling on the same reservation as one full adult fare. For reservations with sleeping accommodations, the free companion and full fare customer must travel together in the same room. All prices will be automatically discounted from the standard fare when accessing this promotion on our special web page  or by using the discount code (V605) when booking their trip.  Prices are as shown and cannot be combined with other discounts.
