WASHINGTON – Amtrak continues its celebrated Art at Amtrak public art program with a series of installations on display in the Metropolitan Lounge at Washington Union Station.
For the project, three artists, Tim Doud, Eirini Linardaki, and Karen Margolis, each designed a unique piece specifically for the space that incorporates aspects of the historic station as well as local culture and geography into their work. The art serves as a permanent enhancement for the lounge and will remain for years to come.
The Art at Amtrak program was launched in June 2022, with its first installation at New York Penn Station, and has since grown to feature art in many stations including Moynihan Train Hall in New York, Washington Union Station, William H. Gray III 30th Street Station in Philadelphia, and Chicago Union Station.
The program aims to present diverse, unique, and memorable art that enhances, invigorates, and humanizes the travel experience at Amtrak stations.
