Amtrak is building a new, modern two-track, electrified, movable bridge to replace the
existing Connecticut River Bridge. The new bridge will provide better reliability for Amtrak
and CTRail’s Shore Line East customers while improving maritime operations for the local
community.
On Wednesday, February 15, 2023 Amtrak and its partners held a Public Informational Session for the Connecticut River Bridge Replacement Project to:
- Re-introduce the Connecticut River Bridge Replacement Project
- Highlight the environmental aspects of the project
- Solicit community feedback
Amtrak begins procurement in 2023 and construction is expected to start in 2024.
