WASHINGTON – Amtrak today announced the unique amenities exclusive to its Acela Nonstoptrain, which begins its inaugural trip on Monday, Sept. 23, including: complimentary coffee, tea water, and a light snack, “at seat” cashless cart service offering a limited menu of snacks and beverages and onboard phone charging kits for sale. Offering nonstop service between New York Penn Station (NYP) and Washington Union Station (WAS), customers will continue to enjoy the many features available on current Acela service, including the full menu in the Café Car, as well as access to the Quiet Car.
NEW YORK – Amtrak engineering forces have completed the 2019 summer infrastructure renewal work at New York Penn Station, allowing for scheduled operations to resume Tuesday, Sept. 3 as planned. The work was also completed safely and within budget by the Amtrak team working on the project. Amtrak will host a call early next week to discuss in-depth details on the project and will be issuing a media advisory shortly with a date, time and dial-in information.
SPRINGFIELD, MA – Amtrak, in conjunction with MassDOT, is launching a new state supported seven day a week passenger train on Friday, August 30, called the Valley Flyer. The train will travel along the Connecticut River, a region referred to as the Knowledge Corridor, with trains making station stops in Springfield, Holyoke, Northampton and Greenfield. The trains will also connect with Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor at New Haven and serve stations between New Haven and Springfield. Tickets are now available and can be found on Amtrak.com, the Amtrak app, Amtrak ticket desks and kiosks, and through 1-800-USA-RAIL.
Amtrak has continued its partnership with the New York State Fair to provide direct train service for customers traveling as a more convenient, cost-effective, family friendly and comfortable way to travel to and from the Empire State’s largest annual event between Wednesday, Aug. 21 and Monday, Sept. 2.
WASHINGTON – Amtrak today announced the launch of Acela Nonstop, a new offering with direct service between Washington Union Station (WAS) and New York Penn Station (NYP), beginning Monday, Sept. 23, with tickets now available. The initial weekday only schedule includes one southbound (NYP-WAS) and one northbound train (WAS-NYP) per day with an approximate trip time of two hours and 35 minutes. The southbound train will depart NYP at 6:35 a.m. and is scheduled to arrive at WAS around 9:10 a.m. The northbound train will depart WAS at 4:30 p.m., and arrive at NYP around 7:05 p.m.
ORANGE, Calif. – July 16, 2019 – In anticipation of one of the busiest travel weeks on the Pacific Surfliner, Amtrak is prepared to accommodate the surge of travelers with extra equipment and staff, adding approximately 9,500 additional seats to Pacific Surfliner trains over the five-day period from July 17 to July 21, 2019. In order to accommodate projected passenger demand, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner will be putting 14 additional cars into service to expand capacity on peak days (Wednesday and Sunday).
NEW YORK – Amtrak will continue its Infrastructure Renewal program at New York Penn Station this summer by performing state of good repair work on JO railroad interlocking which directs Amtrak, Long Island Rail Road and NJ TRANSIT trains heading east and west from the East River Tunnels.
