Amtrak, in partnership with the Vermont Agency of Transportation and New England Central Railroad, announced a revised schedule beginning March 18, on the Vermonter service between St. Albans, Vt. and Washington, D.C.
Amtrak Hiawatha Service passengers holding current monthly and ten-ride tickets now have Priority Boarding at Chicago Union Station as they travel on the Chicago-Milwaukee corridor, the busiest in the Midwest.
Amtrak and the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) are gearing up for track improvements along the former Norfolk Southern Railway (NS) route used by Amtrak Wolverine Service and Blue Water trains from Kalamazoo to Central and Eastern Michigan. Amtrak has responsibility for this infrastructure, effective Feb. 16.
The Winter Park Station is an important part of the Amtrak national network. The Silver Meteor and Silver Star both serve this station, and will continue to do so during construction, providing convenient access south to Miami and north to New York.
Passenger rail is a vital alternative in Virginia’s overall transportation solution and will be a contributor to Virginia’s future economic success.
In preparation for travel to presidential inauguration activities in the nation’s capital, and to accommodate increased ticket sales, Amtrak is offering two additional Acela Express trains between New York and Washington, D.C. on Monday, January 21.
In response to growing demand, Amtrak Auto Train is expanding capacity by adding more seats for travel beginning on Jan. 1 through March 31.
Amtrak is expanding its Northeast Corridor high-speed rail service with
the addition of a new weekday Acela Express round-trip between New York and Washington
beginning on Jan. 28.
