Amtrak has installed hearing loop technology at designated ticket counters and at the customer service desks in New York and Washington to enhance the travel experience for passengers with hearing loss.
Amtrak and the California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) are joining forces in the search for proven high-speed rail (HSR) train sets currently being manufactured and in commercial service that are capable of operating safely at speeds up to 220 mph on both Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor (NEC) and on California’s developing HSR corridor.
Building on the progress achieved during the past year, Amtrak is moving forward in 2013 with more upgrades to Lancaster Station including major work to rehabilitate the main waiting room by repairing the plaster walls and ceiling, repainting it with historic colors, restoring historic light fixtures and relocating the sprinkler pipe.
In preparation for travel to presidential inauguration activities in the nation’s capital, and to accommodate increased ticket sales, Amtrak is offering two additional Acela Express trains between New York and Washington, D.C. on Monday, January 21.

In response to growing demand, Amtrak Auto Train is expanding capacity by adding more seats for travel beginning on Jan. 1 through March 31.
