Amtrak Restores Coast Starlight Service Effective August 23

Following wildfire damage, Amtrak resumes full service between Los Angeles and Seattle

WASHINGTON – Amtrak announces full restoration of Coast Starlight service operating daily between Los Angeles and Seattle following several weeks of service interruption resulting from extensive wildfire damage in Northern California. With infrastructure repairs now completed, customers can leverage Amtrak’s train service to travel up and down the California coast, passing through Santa Barbara, the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, and Portland beginning August 23. The service restoration has completed two weeks ahead of schedule, and makes full Coast Starlight service available for the upcoming Labor Day holiday period. The new schedule has been updated on all Amtrak reservation systems, including Amtrak.com [1] and the Amtrak app [2].

Widely regarded as one of the most spectacular of all train routes, the Coast Starlight links the greatest cities on the West Coast. The scenery along the Coast Starlight route is unsurpassed. The dramatic peaks of the Cascade Range and Mount Shasta, lush forests, fertile valleys, and long stretches of Pacific Ocean shoreline provide a stunning backdrop for the journey.
