Amtrak Connects Us – Media Roundtables

Two members of Colorado’s Front Range Commission and the President of the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce joined Amtrak CEO Bill Flynn and Amtrak President Stephen Gardner  to talk about a vision for passenger rail service along a Front Range Corridor between Pueblo and Cheyenne, including Colorado Springs/USAF Academy, Castle Rock, Littleton, Denver, Boulder, Longmont, Loveland, Ft. Collins and Cheyenne.

Mayors of three Ohio cities and the leader of one of the state’s metropolitan planning agencies joined Amtrak CEO Bill Flynn and Amtrak President Stephen Gardner on May 18, for a Media Roundtable virtual event to talk about a vision for passenger rail service along a Cleveland-Columbus-Cincinnati corridor, via Dayton, including Cleveland Hopkins Airport, Crestline, Springfield and Sharonville. Development of this corridor in Ohio is an Amtrak priority.

Kansas’ senior senator, leaders from Wichita and Newton joined Amtrak CEO Bill Flynn and Amtrak President Stephen Gardner and officials from Oklahoma and Texas on Tuesday afternoon, June 9, for a Media Roundtable virtual event. They discussed a vision for passenger rail service connecting the Amtrak Southwest Chief in Newton to the Amtrak Texas Eagle in Fort Worth by extending the Amtrak Heartland Flyer north of Oklahoma City and tripling its frequency between Oklahoma and Texas. Development of this corridor linking three states to two Amtrak national network trains is an Amtrak priority and we need Congress to provide Amtrak with the funding and tools to make it a reality.

Mayors of two cities, two of Arizona’s U.S. Representatives as well as the Phoenix Chamber Vice President, Visit Phoenix and Visit Tucson joined Amtrak CEO Bill Flynn and Amtrak President Stephen Gardner on Tuesday, July 27, for a Media Roundtable virtual event to talk about our vision for passenger rail service and connecting the Arizona communities of Tucson, Phoenix, Marana, Coolidge, Queen Creek, Tempe, Goodyear, and Buckeye. It also links Phoenix and Tucson to Los Angeles with increased daily service.

Governor Tom Wolf, Congressman Matt Cartwright, Allentown Deputy Mayor Leonard Lightner, Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti, and Greater Reading Chamber Alliance President & CEO Jim Gerlach joined  Amtrak CEO Bill Flynn and Amtrak President Stephen Gardner on Friday, Sept. 10, for a Media Roundtable virtual event. The group discussed Amtrak’s vision for increased and new service in Pennsylvania including Scranton, Allentown and Reading to New York, an additional Pennsylvanian frequency, as well as proposed upgrades to the Harrisburg line.
