Amtrak Recognized as One of America’s Best Employers

Workplace offers customers a smarter way to travel

WASHINGTON – Amtrak received recognition for workplace excellence by earning a spot on the Forbes magazine’s America’s Best Large Employers 2019 list. Approximately 20,000 Amtrak employees ensure customers travel in comfort and reach their destinations safely and reliably.

America’s Railroad® is on the list for the fifth year in a row and is among 500 employers across 25 industries. Listed under the transportation & logistics category, Amtrak was chosen based on the magazine’s independent survey of more than 50,000 employees in 25 different industries working for companies with at least 1,000 people employed in their U.S. locations. The employees were asked open-ended questions regarding their employer.

“We are proud to have a strong, professional workforce dedicated
to doing a great job every day,” Amtrak President and CEO Richard Anderson
said. “Our employees will continue to provide excellent customer service and advance
the strategies that
are driving the company to the next level of ridership and
revenue performance.”

Amtrak employees enable the railroad to be a vital part of
the national transportation network, serving more than 500 destinations in 46
states, the District of Columbia and three Canadian provinces, on more than
21,400 miles of routes.

America’s
Best Large Employers’ recognition highlights how Amtrak employees
provide customers a hassle-free travel experience on trains featuring large and
spacious seats with ample leg room, no middle seat and outlets.

A wide range of rewards support the professional and
personal lives of employees. Amtrak offers a Parental Leave Income Replacement
Policy, which eligible new parents can receive up to 12 weeks of income. This
benefit extends to birth and adoptive parents and same-sex partners. Personal time
off, 401 K and retirement plans, and education assistance are among the many
available benefits.
