September 6, 2018 Amtrak Recognizes Employees for Contributions to Business and Customers

Workforce offers friendly, helpful service

WASHINGTON – America’s Railroad® honored employees with the President’s Service and Safety Awards, the highest recognition given to Amtrak employees. The awards were recently distributed to more than 50 employees during a special ceremony in Washington, D.C.

The annual program honors those who perform far beyond the expected duties and responsibilities of their jobs and who make outstanding contributions to improve the efficiency, economy, safety and service of Amtrak’s operations, as well as embrace the values of the corporation. Award categories were in achievement, customer service, leadership, innovation, safety, top performer and valor.

“The awards celebrate the contributions toward making Amtrak the smarter way to travel for more than 30 million customers every year,” President and CEO Richard Anderson said.

The employees were recognized for a number of achievements, including improving onboard announcements, enhancing amenities for customers, producing materials for trains at a competitive cost, and providing excellent customer service.
