NEW YORK – Amtrak today announced that it launched FindYourWay, a real-time customer information beacon technology-enabled app, for exclusive use inside New York Penn Station. The app provides real-time gate, train, and boarding information for Amtrak customers and also helps direct passengers throughout the station to find gates, exits, ATMs, and restaurants. FindYourWay is currently available for free download on both iOS and Android operating systems.
WASHINGTON – This year, there’s no better gift than the gift of train travel as Amtrak has announced its second “Track Friday Sale,” offering customers a Black Friday sale for travel on most Amtrak routes throughout the national network. Amtrak is offering its “Track Friday Sale” for only the second time in the company’s history, following the success of last year’s promotion.
A new partnership between Winter Park Resort, Amtrak and Lyft offers a stress-free way to get to the slopes this winter, starting Jan. 5. As the Presenting Sponsor, the popular rideshare service Lyft will offer new customers an AMTRAKLYFT promo code for $5 off their first four rides. Customers can also select a larger vehicle for their boards and skis, plus be dropped off and picked up at Denver Union Station. From there, Amtrak avoids the traffic snarls on I-70 and US-40 to reach 3,081 acres of the best terrain in Colorado.
Amtrak is announcing a series of track renewal projects in New York Penn Station as part of the Infrastructure Renewal program. While the bulk of the renewal work for 2018 will occur on weekends, there will be a series of continuous single-track closures within the Station from January 4, 2018 through May 28, 2018, which will require minor modifications to Amtrak and commuter train weekday operations at New York Penn Station. Amtrak is working with NJ TRANSIT and Long Island Rail Road on an overall service plan that minimizes the impact to all New York Penn Station customers to the greatest extent possible.
The Thanksgiving travel season will soon be underway and Amtrak and the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) are prepared to accommodate additional customers traveling on the Northeast Regional during the busiest travel week of the year.
In anticipation of the busiest travel week of the year, Amtrak is prepared to accommodate the surge of holiday travelers with extra equipment and additional capacity on the Amtrak San Joaquins route, which travels between Oakland/Sacramento, Stockton, Fresno and Bakersfield. Tickets sell out quickly, so customers are encouraged to plan ahead and book early.
