Amtrak Names Christian Zacariassen Chief Information Officer

Christian Zacariassen was appointed chief information officer at Amtrak, responsible for all information technology business systems, including strategy, technology investment portfolio governance, systems development, infrastructure, IT operations and information security.

“Christian has a wealth of experience that will help modernize and simplify digital technology and data across the company,” said Richard Anderson, Amtrak President and Co-CEO. “His strong track record will help deliver IT solutions that increase efficiencies, generate revue and improve the customer and employee experience.”

Zacariassen joined Amtrak in 2013. Prior to being named CIO, he was Amtrak’s associate vice president for product, portfolio & customer management, and was chief of infrastructure services.

He has more than 25 years of professional experience. Before joining Amtrak, Zacariassen was vice president, information technology (head of global IT infrastructure) for Life Technologies. He also served as a sergeant in the Norwegian Army.

Zacariassen will report directly to President and Co-CEO Richard Anderson.
