Sweepstakes and 10 percent discount for travel

WASHINGTON – North Carolina’s Amtrak and the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) are teaming up to offer music fans a chance to travel on America’s Railroad® to the annual Wide Open Blue Grass Festival in Raleigh, N.C., being held Sept. 30 to Oct. 4. The event is at the Raleigh Convention Center, which is within walking distance from the Amtrak Raleigh station.

Now through Sept. 21 people can enter a sweepstakes to win round-trip Amtrak tickets for travel from Boston, New York and Washington, D.C., to Raleigh, N.C., to attend the music and street festival. Up to four tickets will be given away to a winner from each of the three cities. Visit the IBMA website to enter the sweepstakes.

In addition, Amtrak is offering a 10 percent discount off the best available rail fare for travel to Raleigh between Sept. 27 and Oct. 7. The discount is valid for all departures seven days a week. This offer is valid for coach seats; upgrades to Business Class or sleepers are available upon full payment of applicable accommodation charges. Other terms and conditions apply. During the festival, the Amtrak booth will feature family activities, games, and Casey the Engineer Bear. In addition, visitors will have a chance to win round-trip travel vouchers for Amtrak travel on the Carolinian, Piedmont, Palmetto, Silver Star or Silver Meteor.
