WASHINGTON – North Carolina’s Amtrak is offering a special mid-week $5 fare for kids ages 2-12 to travel on the Piedmont and Carolinian to explore the many wonders of the state this summer. The offer is valid for travel through Aug. 28 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Advance reservations are required a minimum of one day prior to travel. Use discount code V812. Terms and conditions apply. Passengers can book online, by calling 1-800-USARAIL or by using a mobile device or Amtrak eTicketing. Boarding documents can be printed at home or office, at a staffed station or by using an Amtrak Quik-TrakSM kiosk.
The Piedmont and Carolinian travel between the vibrant commercial center of Charlotte and the state capital of Raleigh, where both cities hosts children’s museums. The Carolinian also stops in Selma, Wilson and Rocky Mount. A fun option is to take the kids to the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, featuring a beautifully preserved 37-bay locomotive roundhouse and 100-foot turntable.
