Partnership offers kids’ activities at select events
WASHINGTON – Amtrak is partnering with Chuggington to offer additional activities at select National Train Day events on Saturday, May 11, 2013.
The Chuggington Kids Depot with train-themed kids’ activities based on the popular children’s animated television series on Disney Junior. The area will feature a variety of educational and entertaining stations including safety, arts and crafts, photo opportunity, train play tables and library.
In addition to family-friendly activities and trainthemed displays, select events will also feature an HO scale operating model train provided by Walthers. The model will feature Amtrak equipment including an Amtrak locomotive and passenger cars.
The 23 communities that will feature the Chuggington Kids Depot and model train displays include:
Little Rock, Ark.
La Junta, Colo.
Kansas City, Mo.
Fort Worth, Texas
More than 200 communities are expected to host events at local train stations, railroad museums and other locations commemorating this year’s theme “Trains Matter,” celebrating the importance of trains to their town.
