More access to a wide array of services

WASHINGTON – Amtrak is launching today a Chinese-language version of its website to serve as a resource for the increasing number of Chinese-speaking residents of and visitors to the United States. The site is accessible by clicking on the Chinese-language link on the Amtrak.com homepage or at zh.amtrak.com.

Besides English, Chinese is the second-highest language encountered throughout the Amtrak system. The Amtrak website is also available in Spanish, French and German.

“Outside of the United States, China is one of our top Asian markets,” said Amtrak Chief of Sales Distribution and Customer Service Debbi Stone-Wulf. “We want our Chinese-speaking passengers worldwide to take advantage of the many services available to them on our website.”

Amtrak.com serves as a valuable portal for passengers traveling by rail. The new simplified translation allows Chinese-speaking passengers, regardless of their dialect or country of origin, to plan and reserve trips to cities and attractions throughout the nation and access information on routes, stations, train schedules and special promotional offers.

Amtrak.com is recognized as a leader among travel industry websites, accounting for 60 percent of the overall company ticket sales. America’s Railroad® was one of the first travel providers to implement a free mobile app for passengers.
