Save 20% on train travel in Illinois, Michigan and Missouri

CHICAGO – With a record-breaking winter making everyone in the Midwest think twice about driving, Amtrak has ways to warm you up with 20 percent discounts on several trains from now through March 31.

Discounts are available on Amtrak routes between Chicago and downstate Illinois, including on Lincoln Service, Illinois Zephyr/Carl Sandburg, and Illini/Saluki. In addition, savings are available between Chicago and Michigan on Wolverine Service, Blue Water, and Pere Marquette trains and between Kansas City and St. Louis on the Missouri River Runner.

Terms and conditions vary, but big savings are possible by using Amtrak fare codes V418 for the Illinois trains, V313 for the Michigan routes and V539 for the Missouri trains.

Below are just a few of the special prices available (adult fares, each way, as low as):

  • Chicago to Springfield: $16.80
  • Chicago to Detroit: $27.20
  • Chicago to St. Louis: $21.60
  • Chicago to Grand Rapids: $24.80
  • Chicago to Carbondale: $27.20
  • Chicago to Port Huron: $23.20
  • Chicago to Quincy: $22.40
  • Kansas City to St. Louis: $23.20
